We are always looking for Skilled Psychologists who are willing to work overseas in MSF missions and to put their skills at the service of those most in need.

MAIN PURPOSE

Defining, coordinating and monitoring all mental health related activities in the project area including management of staff, ensuring the quality of care and analyzing statistics and reports, according to MSF protocols in order to provide the most appropriate support for patients.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Work with the medical team to identify Mental Health (MH) needs and plan, organize, and update MSF’s MH strategy and activities.
- Monitor and evaluate Mental Health support activities.
- Develop and update technical materials, tools, guidelines, and documents.
- Ensure all Mental Health protocols and procedures are implemented to provide appropriate patient treatment.
- Plan and supervise HR processes (recruitment, training, evaluation) for Mental Health staff, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills.
- Coordinate and ensure regular follow-up on Mental Health activities inside and outside health facilities.
- Ensure the Mental Health team and translators maintain professionalism and neutrality during sessions.
- Map and update existing Mental Health services (NGOs, community groups, governmental services) and maintain communication and collaboration with project components.
- Identify and report potential advocacy issues.
- Ensure Mental Health participation in counseling and prevention activities (PPTCT, VCT) as needed.
- Participate in monthly reports (SitRep, statistical reports) and report issues to the Medical Coordinator for decision-making and resolution.
- Ensure psychiatric patients receive proper treatment, including medication and psychosocial support, either within MSF programs or through referrals.

Job requirements

  • Degree/master in psychology or social work or MD degree with specialization in psychiatry.

  • Working experience of at least 4 years as psychologist or other similar profession.

  • Working experience in developing countries.
  • Fluency in English and French is mandatory.
